Marlene Yvonne (Walker) Hellman, age 72, of New Plymouth, passed away July 13, 2012 in Ontario.

A viewing for family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, July 17th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 18th at the First Baptist Church, New Plymouth with Pastor Phil Pittman officiating. Burial will follow at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth.

Arrangements and services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, New Plymouth.

Marlene was born in Payette, ID on Nov. 2, 1939. Her family has a long history in the Payette Valley, which goes back several generations.

Marlene married Ron on February 19, 1961 and his Air Force career took them to the Philippines, Colorado and Germany.
Marlene held a variety of jobs from cosmetologist to bailiff. Her most relished role though was being a mom and a wife, and eventually her ultimate calling was being a grandma.

Marlene built her life on a rock-solid foundation of faith, family and friends. She was very involved with the First Baptist Church in New Plymouth, where she was a deaconess and active with the youth ministry. She loved her family and friends unconditionally. She enjoyed camping excursions, crabbing adventures on the coast, evening card games, fishing trips, and a glass of Ron's homemade wine. Her best times though were always with her grandchildren, even if it was something as simple as rocking in her recliner with a grandchild or two on her lap or listening intently as they told her stories about their activities.

She was active in the community and instrumental in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she frequently held an office.
Marlene had sincerity and a loving spirit about her that made people fall in love with her. No matter who you were, Marlene made you feel special and cared about.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Peggy Walker, and her son, Todd Hellman (2004).

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ron; daughter, Ronda; brothers, Vernon (wife Carol), and John (wife Kay); grandchildren, Raymond, Nicki, Keegan, Luke, Chase, Gage, T.J., Delana, Seth, Ty, Reese and Peanut; five great-grandchildren; extended family and wonderful friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made in Marlene's name to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary or a charity of your choice, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
