Lois Marie Spyker, 96, of Deerton, MI, formerly of Battle Creek, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Munising Memorial Hospital in Munising, MI. She was born March 22, 1911 in Dearborn County, IN the daughter of Harvey and Alice F. (Corbin) Walker. She married Earnest W. Spyker on August 10, 1929 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana and he preceded her in death on June 30, 1960. Lois and Ernest moved to Battle Creek in 1934 and to the Upper Peninsula area in 1958. Mrs. Spyker was a cook at Northern Michigan University in Marquette until her retirement. She had played the organ and piano professionally in the area for many years. She was a member of the Munising Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star Lodge and Marquette Musicians' Federation.
She is survived by her sons, Leonard H. (Lois Martha) Spyker, Richard L. (Lois Ann) Spyker; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Burdge.
Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Jeffery Davis officiating.
