Zenora Cofer was born in Waco, TX, August 2, 1916, to Annie Field Walker, mother, and Henry Walker, father. As she grew up, she attended Moore Station High School. At an early age she married John L. Cofer, Sr. in 1933 in East Texas. They had 5 children: John L. Cofer, Jr., Martha Cofer English,Franklin Cofer, Stella Cofer Mitchell, and James Cofer. Later in life the Cofer family moved to Dawson, TX, where all children attended their primary grades through high school. After the children graduated from high school, the Cofer's moved to Dallas, TX in 1961. Ms. Cofer worked many years in private home care.
Ms. Zenora Cofer accepted Christ at a very young age and continued to serve God after relocating to Dallas, TX, at Third Avenue Baptist Church in 1981, under the pastorage of Rev. L.G. Jackson. She continued to serve faithfully for the last sixteen years under the leadership of Pastor Michael Pryor. Her positive influence impacted many members and Pastor Pryor honored and expressed how he valued her stewardship by naming her "Golden Girl" and then "Platinum Plus", after she became the age of ninety.
Preceding her in death was her husband, John L. Cofer, Sr., 3 sons: John L. Jr. of Dallas, Franklin of Dallas, and James of Philadelphia, PA. She leaves behind to cherish her memories, 2 daughters: Martha and Stella, both of Dallas, one sister: Erma D. Wilson, of Dallas, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren. Also, left to cherish
her memories are a host of relatives and special friends. She will be missed greatly by all.
