GREENVILLE, SC - Donald Davidson Waldrop, 82, widower of Clara Ruth Wooten Waldrop, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at his residence.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Ernest L. and Necy Lister Waldrop.
Mr. Waldrop was retired from the United States Postal Service and was a United States Navy veteran having served during World War II. He collected, repaired and sold antique clocks. He was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors and the National Association of Letter Carriers.
Surviving are his companion and longtime friend, Joyce Lamb of Greenville; a daughter, Donna Dent of Greenville; a son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Gaye Waldrop of Greenville; three grandchildren, Jamie Waldrop of Lilburn Georgia, Aimee Spencer of West Palm Beach, Florida, Laurie Hall of Greenville; three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Ben and Clara Hall; a sister, Ruby Waldrop of Greenville; and a brother, Alvin Waldrop of The Villages, Florida. In addition to huis parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Otto Waldrop; two sisters, Edna Waldrop and Frances Burns; and four brothers, Buck, Truman, Rufus and Charles Waldrop.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 11, 2009, from noon to 1:15 p.m. at Rhomas McAfee Funeraql Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
