Lyman E. Wakefield Jr., age 90. Born in Minneapolis in 1911, died Dec. 11, 2001. Son of Lyman E. Wakefield Sr., one of the founders of the First National Bank of Minneapolis, and Elizabeth Anderson of the family that founded Hutchinson, MN. Grandson of Warren and Abbie Wakefield, among the earliest white settlers in the Minnetonka region. Graduate of the Blake School and received an AB degree from Dartmouth College. Founder and former Chairman of Resource Trust Company. Over 30 years on the Board of Directors of Northwest Airlines and former Director of Gould Batteries, American Linen and North Star Steel. Active in community affairs serving as Trustee or Director of Minneapolis Downtown Council, KTCA-TV, Animal Humane Society of Hennepin County. Past president of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce. Member of St. Martin's by-the-Lake Episcopal Church. Built the legendary Ice Center which he recently donated to Breck School. Renowned figure skater and ``father of figure skating in Minnesota'' and judge of figure skating at the world championship level. National Intercollegiate skating champion 4 consecutive years at Dartmouth followed by 4 consecutive years as member of the North American Championship Fours. United States Navy (1941-1945) as Lieutenant Commander. Member of American Masters of Fox Hounds Association and former Master of the Long Lake Hounds. Active in bringing the Minnesota Twins to his beloved state.

Survived by wife, Wilma Mae Boerhave Wakefield; brother, Samuel Chase Wakefield; two daughters, Louise Wakefield Otten (Clifford) and Anne Wakefield-Leck (Charles), Victoria Jane Aberg (Roland); stepsons, Thomas J. Wakefield (Marlys Moen), Gerald Paul Brost, James A. Brost (Jeanne); grandchildren, Gretchen Piper (Scott Rosenbaum), Tad Wakefield Piper (Meg), William L. Piper (Tiffaney), Lisa Niforopulos (Warner Bruntjen), James N. Alexander, Mark J. Niforopulos, Cynthia Louise Leck, Caroline M. Brost, Alexander J. Brost, Christopher Brost, Kelly Brost, Riley Brost, Brian Brost, Lorentz Aberg, Yvonne Aberg; great-granddaughter, Addison Louise Piper, and a host of dear friends and loved ones.

Memorial Service Saturday, December 15, 2:00 PM at St. Martin's by-the-Lake Episcopal Church, Minnetonka Beach. Visitation on Friday, December 14, 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Rettinger Funeral Home, Long Lake. Private interment.
