Ila Louise Andrews, 96, of Childress, died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 in Amarillo BSA Hospital Hospice.
Services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church of Childress with Rev. George Price officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home.
Louise was born the third child of five on September 19, 1915 to E.L. and Myrtle Wakefield in Azel, Texas. She graduated from Carey High School then attended Beauty School. She married Howard Andrews on December 25, 1938.
Louise was employed by Taylor and Andrews Grocery, Gibson's Discount and United Supermarket. She also worked as an election clerk and judge for many years. She and Howard were Childress Cowboy Old Settlers King and Queen in 1998. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers,; Wayne Wakefield and Ted Wakefield; two sisters; Juarene Loter, and Verde Nell Arnn; and husband, Howard of seventy three years.
Survivors include two sons; Gene and wife Betty of Amaraillo, Dean and wife Lorelei of Liberty Hill; six grandchildren; Kim Pool of Buda, Don Andrews of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Scott Andrews and wife Lori of Antham, Arizona, Derek Andrews of Wichita Falls, Kyle Andrews and wife Raynee of LaVernia, and Kris Andrews of Austin; two sisters-in-law; Colleen Andrews of Cameron and Ernestine Hackler of Amarillo; 10 great grandchildren; thirteen nieces; and eight nephews.
