Jacob was the son of John and Elizabeth Wigner.
He enlisted in Company B, 48th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on Feb 15, 1864 and was captured on Sep 30, 1864 during the Siege of Petersburg, VA. He died in the infamous Andersonville Prison.

Please note that Jacob Wigner died in Pottsville not Andersonville. He arrived in Pottsville from Annapolis, where he had been treated for serious illnesses resulting from his imprisonment at Andersonville and Millen in Georgia.
