Nancy Jane Cochran, 61, Whitestown, died at 8:05 a.m. September 2, 1997, at St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, following a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Cochran grew up in Clinton County near Pickard, where she graduated from Sugar Creek Township High School in 1953. She had lived in Boone County 32 years, and worked as a certified dietary supervisor at Indiana Christian Retirement
Center in Zionsville. She also had worked for Livengood Meat Shop in Whitestown, and Economy Insurance (now St. Paul Insurance Co.), Indianapolis. She most recently had worked as a telephone insurance adjuster.

She was a member of Whitestown United Methodist Church and its UMW and served on its administrative board. She was past president of the Whitestown American Legion Auxiliary (as well as past president of the Kirklin American Legion Auxiliary), a former member of Chat 'N Do Extension Homemakers Club and former treasurer of the 4-H Extension Catering Service.

She was born July 5, 1936, in Crawfordsville, to Walter G. and Harriette E. Christy Waggoner.

She is survived by her mother, Harriette of Dundee, Florida; two sons, Scott of Norman, Indiana and Brian of Lebanon; three daughters, Melinda S. Creek of Pendleton, Mrs. William (Donna M.) Belcher of Zionsville, and Mrs. Michael (Laurie) Turner of Lebanon; a sister, Mrs. John (Mary) Favors of Frankfort; three brothers, Phillip E. Waggoner of Sheridan, D. Thomas Waggoner of Noblesville, and David G. Waggoner of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Her father and a sister (Vivian) preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Myers Mortuary, Lebanon, with Pastor Scott Tyring officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon. Calling hours are 4-8 p.m. Thursday, with the American Legion Auxiliary service at 8.
