Charles C. Waggoner
Charles Clayton "C.C." "Charlie" Waggoner, 72, of Nashville, formerly of Salem, died at 5:09 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Waggoner was born April 13, 1938, in Ellettsville, the son of Olin and Gladys Jean Price Wagoner.
He was a longtime country musician and singer. Since 1994, he and his wife had been music directors at Country Gospel Music Church in Nashville.
He was honorably discharged from the Air Force and the Army. He served in the 84th Engineering Battalion in Chinon, France, during the Berlin buildup in 1961 and 1962.
He is survived by his wife, Roxann Applewhite Waggoner. They were married in 1973. He is also survived by three children, Charles George of Albany, N.Y., Steven George of Long Beach, Calif., and Loretta George of Arcadia, Fla.; a brother, Bill Waggoner of Salem; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Country Gospel Music Church. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Weathers Funeral Home in Salem and from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Burial will be at Chambersville Cemetery near Ellettsville.
