David E. Wagenseller Jr., 94, formerly of Lancaster, died on Friday, August 10, 2012 at Luther Acres, Lititz. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late D. Earl and Gertrude Helms Wagenseller.

David grew up in Suplee, PA, a village of east Honey Brook. After graduating from Honeybrook High School and Penn State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, David joined the U.S. Army and served from 1942-1945 in the 41st Infantry Division "Jungleers". During that time he was stationed overseas in Australia and New Guinea. Upon returning to the U.S. in 1944, he married his childhood sweetheart, Grace Winifred Wright. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage together including extensive travels around the world until she preceded him in death in 2011. Dave and Grace enjoyed many years of vacations in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Del Ray Beach, Florida which they shared with friends and family.

David belonged to Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) Fraternity, and served the following organizations: Director of Lancaster County Civil Defense, Director of Lancaster Symphony, Board of Lancaster Council of Churches, President of Penn State Club, President of Lancaster County Mental Health Association, Board of Encounter, Judge of Elections and Chairman of Service Corps of Retired Executives. (SCORE). He also served on the Manheim Township Zoning Board of Adjustment.

A 61-year member of First Presbyterian Church, he was an elder, deacon, and served on many church committees and organizations. He was a proud member of the George Mann Bible Study Class.

David is survived by his son David E. Wagenseller, III, husband of Linda; his daughter Virginia L, wife of Curt Hitchcock all of Lancaster; his four grandchildren: Christopher Wagenseller, husband of Liz who reside in Lancaster; Amy, wife of Glen Steele of San Jose, CA; Leslie Hitchcock of Lancaster, and Sean Hitchcock of Lexington Park, MD and his great grandson, Brendan Steele and great grand-daughter, June Wagenseller.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend David's Funeral Service at First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange Street, Lancaster on Friday, August 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dan Snyder officiating. The family will greet friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A private family interment will be held in St. Mark's Episcopal Church Cemetery, Honeybrook, PA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in David's name for child abuse prevention services to COBYS Family Services Family Life Education, 1417 Oregon Road Leola, PA 17540.
