1st Battalion Royal Scots in or around Sanctuary Wood from 12th April 1915 to 22nd May 1915.
Sanctuary Wood Cemetery (near Hill 62) Zillebeke, Belgium. There are 1,989 burials of which there are only 636 of them identifiable (1,353 are unidentifiable)
Between 9th April 1915 to 22nd of May 1915 the 1st battalion RS lost 50 men in or around Sanctuary Wood who have no known grave and are Commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres.
The "Second Battle of Ypres" the 1st Royal Scots had been defending the Kemmel area on the Salient's southern flank and was subjected to almost constant shell-fire.
Relieved and withdrew into close support at Sanctuary Wood.
