Freda (Deaver) Dunlap, 94, an early pioneer of Campbell County, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, at her home in Camarillio, Calif.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Noecker Funeral Home Chapel in Gillette with the Rev. Dr. Tom Phillips of the First Presbyterian Church officiataing.
Burial will be in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Mrs. Dunlap was born Oct. 14, 1891, at Herman, Neb., to John and Emma (Huggleman) Wachter. She was raised and received her education at Herman.
On March 14, 1912, she married Richard Clayton Deaver at Omaha, Neb. She and her husband moved to Campbell county in the spring of 1914 and established a homestead 20 miles south of Gillette.
They later established their home and ranching operation on Dry Creek. They maintained and operated that ranch until 1947 when Richard Clayton Deaver died.
Mrs. Dunlap lived on the family ranch until moving to Story in the early 1950s. On Sept. 1, 1957, she married W.O. "Oscar" Dunlap at Gillette.
The Dunlaps lived on the Dunlap ranch south of Gillette and also maintained a home in Gillette. After his death in 1980, she moved to Camarillo, CA, where she has since made her home.
She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Daughters of the Nile, and a lifetime member of the G.M. Club.
Mrs. Dunlap is survived by one son, Robert M. Deaver of Sheridan, two daughters, Jeanne Hadley of Casa Grande, Ariz., and Eileen Gilkey of Camarillo; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands in 1947 and 1980; and two sons, Lester and Melvin Deaver.
