MAUREEN L. (O'HEARN) WOZNICK

Maureen L. (O'Hearn) Woznick, age 59, of 414 Chicago St., Manitowoc, died
peacefully at home Monday evening, February 16, 1998, after courageously
battling cancer.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, February 19,
1998, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Manitowoc, with Rev. William Zimmer
officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Maureen was born April 2, 1938, in Maple Grove, Wis., to Ambrose and Lenora
Bartelme O'Hearn. She graduated from Reedsville High School in 1956, and from
the Manitowoc County Teachers College in 1958. She received her Bachelor of
Science degree with honors from Holy Family College in 1961, with the first
graduating lay class. She married Richard Woznick on September 5, 1959, at
Holy Innocents Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Maureen devoted much of her life
to education. She was a teacher in the parochial and public elementary schools,
last serving as a reading specialist teacher in the Sheboygan Public Schools
from 1973 until her retirement in 1995. She was active in the Chapter One
Program and received the Specialist Teacher of the Year Award during the 1993-94
school year. She was active in many community and religious concerns through the
years, recently serving as a Communion distributor at Holy Family Memorial
Hospital, and lending her teaching skills to the Outreach Literary Council.
Survivors include her husband, Richard E. Woznick; one son, Kevin Woznick,
Manitowoc; three daughters and one son-in-law, Kim and Kelly Woznick, Manitowoc,
and Karen M. (Jeffrey) Patterson, Mukwonago, Wis.; two step-grandsons, Benjamin
and Cameron Patterson, Elkhorn, Wis.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Leo
(Margaret) O'Hearn, Oxnard, Calif., Jack (Alberta) O'Hearn, Maple Grove, Wis.,
and Donald (Gail) O'Hearn, Dana Point, Calif.; two sisters and brothers-in-law,
Frances (Francis) Kerscher, Manitowoc, and Bernice (Lester) Grall, Laguna Hills,
Calif. Other in-laws include Jack (Lorraine) Woznick, Manitowoc, William (Anita)
Woznick, Melbourne, Fla., Vernon (Barbara) Woznick, Barefoot Bay, Fla., and
Mary (Thomas) Hoffman, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ambrose and
Lenora O'Hearn, and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Emma Woznick.
Relatives and friends may call at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Thursday from
9 a.m. until the time of services at noon.
The Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral
arrangements.
The family wishes to thank Oncology nursing staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical
Center for the personalized care and attention given to Maureen. The family also
wishes to thank Dr. Edward Barylak. A special thanks goes to Sister Michael and
the wonderful staff at Holy Family Memorial Hospice for all their support through
this difficult time.
