Robert E. Welsch, 82, of Daytona Beach Fla., formerly of Wolcott

Robert E. Welsch, 82, of Daytona Beach Fla., formerly of Wolcott, died on Sunday, July 20, 2003, of cardiovascular disease at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.

He was born on May 22, 1921, in Lafayette, to Dr. Emil L. and Lena Holston Welsch.

He graduated from Wolcott High School and Wabash College in Crawfordsville.

While at Wabash, he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta and Tau Kappa Alpha.

After college, he served as a naval lieutenant during W.W.II and the Korean Crisis.

He received a master of businesses administration degree from the Indiana University Graduate School of Business.

He was a member of the Management Faculty in the I.U. School of Business.

He was an assistant professor and Director of Placement in the School of Business Administration at the University of Richmond, Va.

He also was a program leader on the Executive Development Staff of the General Motors Corporation, on the faculty of the General Motors Institute.

He was the Personnel Manager in the Cleveland office of Arthur Anderson and Co.

In 1962, he became the Manager of Executive and Staff Development for the Central National Bank of Cleveland.

He remained in commercial banking for many years as the Vice President of Human Resources for Citizens Fidelity Bank and Trust Co. in Louisville and the First Interstate Bank of Des Moines.

He retired as a human resources management consultant.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

He was also a member of the Masonic Order, the Scottish Rite, and the Shrine.

He was made a Kentucky Colonel by Governor Edward T. Breathitt in 1965.

Survivors include a daughter, Susan K. Welsch, of West Des Moines, IA.; a son, Robert E. Welsch, of West Des Moines, IA.; four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at Windler Funeral Home in Fowler,

Masonic Services will be at 12:30 on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at the funeral home.

Graveside services will follow at Fowler Cemetery, with a military service.
