Obituary: 'Mrs. Maria Weaver, widow of the late Benjamin F. Weaver, of Salisbury township, died at her home near Pequea Presbyterian church, on Friday evening of last week, at the advanced age of eight-one years, six months & fourteen days. Deceased had been failing in health for some time and recently had several strokes of apoplexy which hastened her death. Mrs. Weaver was an estimable woman. Devoted to her family, always busy yet a hospitable entertainer and very cheerful in her disposition. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran church of this place for many years. Her husband died nearly two years ago and she is survived by four sons, Jonathan H., of this place; John Adam, who lived with his mother; Benjamin F., of Philadelphia, and Martin Luther, of Chicago, and one daughter, Annie, wife of Isaac Mason, of White Horse. The funeral of the deceased was held on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock from her late home and was attended by a large number of relatives and friends. Rev. Albert Steinhaeuser officiated and the interment was made in Trinity Lutheran cemetery in this place in the afternoon.' [New Holland Clarion, Sat., Sept. 2, 1899, pg. 1]
