Edwin "Ed" Baker Vosburgh, Jr. of Blowing Rock, NC passed away in his home on Sunday, December 30, 2013.

He was born on April 14, 1926 in Utica New York. He spent his childhood in Lansing, Michigan; Lancaster, Massachusetts; and Chicago, Illinois. In 1937 he and his family moved to Charlotte, NC, where he resided until relocating to Blowing Rock, NC in 1992. He attended Sharon High School in Charlotte, and Georgia Military Academy in College Park, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He was employed with his father in 1956 in the wholesale furniture industry where he spent most of his career, becoming a well-regarded manufacturer's representative for Clayton Marcus Furniture Company of Hickory, NC. For many years, he had the pleasure of presenting the "E.B. Vosburgh, Sr. Outstanding Salesman of the Year Award", which was selected by the Southern Home Furnishing's Club, and awarded annually at the High Point Furniture Market. He was honored as the recipient of this award in 1980. In 1986 he was recognized as Salesman of the Year by Clayton Marcus Company, Inc. He was Past-President of the Virginia-Carolinas Wholesale Furniture Association, and a member of the International Home Furniture Representative Association. He traveled the Carolinas until his retirement in 1997.

He was a former member of Providence Baptist Church of Charlotte, and an active member of Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church of Blowing Rock, where he served on several committees, and as Trustee. He volunteered with Hospice of Watauga County, Boone, and was a member of the Rotary Club of Blowing Rock, where he was a Board member and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on the Board of the Historical Society of Blowing Rock, served as a Board member of the Blowing Rock Community Foundation, and was a member of the Blowing Rock Arts and History Museum. He had the esteemed honor of serving as President of the Blowing Rock Country Club from 1987 to 1989.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and his sister Connie Rich.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor "Tacky" Smith Vosburgh; sister, Marcia Bowers and husband Tate; three daughters: Vicki V. Worsham, her husband Billy Worsham; Julia V. Vice, her husband Dannie Vice; Martha V. Johnson, her husband Tim Johnson; seven grandchildren: Graham Worsham; Eleanor Grace Worsham; Palmer Johnson; Tim Johnson, Nellie Page Johnson; Anna Beth Vice; Sara Kate Vice Jenkins, her husband Jake Jenkins; one great-grandson, John Austin Jenkins.

Memorial services were held at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church, Blowing Rock, NC, followed by Military honors, provided by American Legion Post 130.
