Funeral services for William G. Vornsand,78,farmer of this area for more than half a century,were held Wednesday afternoon at Hubbard Funeral Home.Rev.C. Emigholz,pastor of Evangelical & Reformed Church,officiated.

Mr.Vornsand died Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at his home,after a long illness.Recently he had been hospitalized for more than a month.

Born March 11,1876,in Oldenburg,Germany,he was the son of William and Johanna Rogge Vornsand,who brought him to America in 1885 when he was nine years old.On January 2,1902,he married Miss Frieda M. Hartmann.They had 10 children,four of whom died as babies.

Mr. and Mrs.Vornsand farmed at Holman for six years and at Shiner for seven years before moving to the Wildwood community near here in 1915 to spend the rest of their lives.Failing health forced Mr.Vornsand to retire from active farming several years ago.
