Earl Voorhies was born Aug 20, 1879 to John Taylor Voorhies & Sarah Raines Voorhies. He married Hester Pierce June 17, 1900 Lawrence Co., IN (K405). Hester was the daughter of Leroy J. & Sarah Cobb Pierce. They lived in Lawrence County, Indiana at a place that was known as "Maul Ridge". They gave birth to eight children; three did not live beyond 5 years old.

Earl died November, 1941. He was survived by 4 sons, John, Ernie, Arnold & Rutho and 1 daughter, Pearl Baker, all from Lawrence County, Indiana.
