Our dear Dad, Lloyd Voorhees, passed away May 13, 1998 in Salt Lake City.

Dad was born August 14, 1923 on his parent's farm in Christianburg, near Gunnison, Utah. He was the son of Ida May Wintch and Stephen Reid Voorhees. On September 10, 1945, Dad married our Mom, Laura Eveline Hatch in the Manti Temple. He worked as an accountant for Mountain Fuel Supply Company for 32 years. He was a High Priest in the Little Cottonwood 9th Ward where he served as Ward Clerk under five bishops and as High Priest Group Leader. Dad and Mom served an LDS mission to Frankfurt, Germany 1981 - 82. He also enjoyed serving as a veil worker in the Jordan River Temple.

Survivors include our Mom, Laura; daughters - Linda (Robert J.) Eastlick, and Sharon (Randall B.) Packer; sons - Gary Lloyd (Joanne) Voorhees, Ronald Paul (Carol) Voorhees, Phuong (Lien) Van Pham, and Hao (Truc) Pham; brothers - Stanley (Margaret) Voorhees, of Manti, Utah, and McEwan (Helen) Voorhees, Salt Lake City, and sister - Rita (Brent) Richards, Bakersfield, California. Preceded in death by parents; sister - Norma Voorhees; brother - Howard Voorhees. His family includes 19 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Monday, May 18, 1998, 12 noon at the Little Cottonwood 9th Ward, 1160 East Vine Street. Friends may call Sunday 6 - 8 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mort., 4760 So. State and Monday 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment - Larkin Sunset Gardens.

Dad contracted polio at age sixteen. He met that challenge and all others in his life, with the determined courage and independent spirit that made him so lovable and stubborn at the same time.

Our Dad was a man who . . .
Flew high,
Overcame all, and
Endured to the end.
He walks now.
