Homer W. Von Seggen, youngest child of John and Amelia Woltje Von Seggen, was born Aug. 6, 1882 on a farm south of Bonaparte, where he spent most of his years. He passed away at the Carter nursing home Dec. 17, 1956 at the age of 74 years, four months and 11 days.
He was a successful farmer and rural school teacher spending all his life in Van Buren county.
He was united in marriage to Lela Thompson on Sept. 22, 1909 and to this union one son Ivan Von Seggen was born. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, an only sister, Mrs. Etta Steinmeyer and his wife, Lela, who passed away April 13, 1943. Those left to mourn his passing are his only child, Ivan, and wife Viola; two nephews, Willard and Harold Steinmeyer and host of relatives and friends.
On March 27, 1955 he became a member of the Bonaparte Methodist church attending regularly as long as his health permitted.
Funeral services in charge of the Rev. Donald Arthur, were held Wednesday, Dec. 19 at 2 p.m., at the Bonaparte Methodist church. Interment at Bonaparte Cemetery.
