Bio by Elaine (Becker) MORRISON –

Lydia VOLZ was born 24 January 1900 in Eigenfeld, Akkerman, Bessarabia, South Russia. Lydia VOLZ married Johann BECKER on the 9 January 1924 in Nikolajewka, Romania.

The EWZ 51-A040 record shows that the Johann BECKER family left Nikolajewka on the 4 November 1940 and arrived in the resettlement area (Kremsmuenster, Germany) on the 10 April 1941.

Johann, his wife Lydia, and two youngest children immigrated to Zillah, Yakima County, Washington in June of 1952 as result of arrangements made by Emil BECKER, his first cousin.

They were sponsored as displaced persons by the MONSCHKE brothers, fruit ranchers, and soon purchased their own home and acreage in the Zillah, Washington area where they lived until their deaths.
