John Gilbert "Johnny" Volk, 39, of Olney, died at 1:16 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, in rural Clay County.

Mr. Volk was born on October 24, 1969, in Olney, the son of Gilbert John and Patricia (Kaufmann) Volk. He married Terri Wyatt on May 30, 2008. She survives.

He was a mechanic for M&M Pump Supply and a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin.

Mr. Volk is survived by his wife, Terri Volk; parents, Gilbert and Patricia Volk; daughter, Brook Colclasure Sloat; daughter, Danielle Greenberg; daughter, Alexis Greenberg; brother, Phil Volk; sisters, Debbie Holkenbrink, Jan Westendorf, Cathy Lewis, Sandy Webb, Lisa Bohnhoff, Becky Will, Mary Woods, Sherry Shamhart, Joyce Hartrich, Judy Zumbahlen, and Toni Zumbahlen; grandchild, Braghen RaLynn Sloat; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Chuck.

Visitation was at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin.

Mass of Christian Burial was at the church with Rev. Father David Braun officiating.

Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery in Wendelin.

Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney in charge of arrangements.
