Velma Virginia was born in Minnesota and adopted by Vernon Volney Vine and his wife Mabel. Mabel wrote a letter in April of 1940 telling her son Richard that she was worried about Velma who was "taking an interest in boys!". Velma married Gaylord Fiskum who was also born in Minnesota. They moved to California, living in Quincy for awhile, later moving to El Dorado County, California where her husband ran a dry cleaning business for many years in Placerville. They had two children, LeRoy and Barbara. Her husband died in 1981; Velma died in 1987; and their son LeRoy who worked at the Placerville Union Cemetery, died in 1989. They are all interred in the Garden Niche III at Placerville Union Cemetery.
