Imelda M. Vigil was called home to be with our Lord after a lengthy illness on February 24, 2012. Imelda was born on August 3, 1927 in Pecos, NM. Imelda was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Isidoro Vigil, her parents, Guillermo Sr. and Genoveva Varela, father-in-law, Ramon L. Vigil, mother-in-law, Martha D. Vigil, brothers, Guillermo Jr. and his wife, Josie, Cipriano and his wife, Claudia, sisters, Nemesia Varela, Genevieve and her husband, Patricio, brothers-in-law, Luciano Vigil and his wife, Lucia, Ernesto Vigil, sister-in-laws, Cleo and her husband, Merejildo Roybal, Carmen and her husband, Eduardo Varela, and Delfinia Velarde, good friends Joe R. and Marie Maes. Imelda is survived by her children, Lourdes and her husband, Eugene Lujan, Mark Vigil, Roseanne and her husband, Jerry Lopez, Carlotta Vigil, Ray and his wife, Teresita Vigil, brother, Frank Varela, sister-in-laws, Eva and her husband, Rudy Lucero, Angie and her husband, Pete Gonzales, Vicky Vigil, brother-in-law, Cristobal Velarde, grandchildren, Brenda and her husband, Randy Tanuz, Mark and his wife, Brenda Vigil, Matthew Vigil, Jenine and her husband, Josh Ortiz, Monica Lopez, Jordan Baca, Alysha Baca, Audriana Vigil, Mariah Vigil and Patricio Vigil, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Imelda was very active in her parish at St. Anthony's in Pecos. Imelda was a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters. Imelda worked at several places including Martin's Ranch, Pecos Independent Schools, and Forked Lightning Ranch. Together with her husband, they successfully owned and operated La Cueva Construction Company and operated a very successful cattle ranch. Imelda was known for her crocheting, knitting, and cooking which she loved to do. Imelda enjoyed making fresh tortillas and bread for all her family. Imelda loved all her children and grandchildren and always wanted them around her. Imelda loved playing card games with all the kids. Imelda enjoyed going up to her family's land in Cow Creek and to Pino Real Ranch to spend time with her family. All services will be held at St. Anthony's Parish in Pecos, NM. Services for Imelda will begin with a visitation at 4:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2012. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Interment will follow the mass at the Pecos Cemetery.
