Felipita Vigil, 87, of Pecos, passed away on Feb. 6, 2006.
She was born on May 11, 1918, in Pecos, to Gavino and Felipita Varela and later adopted and raised by Juan and Maria Segua.
She married Elias J. Vigil Sr. on Aug. 18, 1942. Mrs. Vigil was a resident of Grants Good Samaritan Center and a member in good standing at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Pecos.
Mrs. Vigil is survived by her daughters Evelyn Siegmann of Grants, Eulalia Ortega of Milan and Corrine Varela of Pecos; her sons Elias Vigil Jr. of Grants, Fidolin Vigil of Pecos, David Vigil of Rio Rancho and Dennis Varela of Albuquerque; her sister Antonia Varela of Los Alamos; her brother Elias Varela of Pecos and step-sister Natalia Segura of Santa Fe; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Elias Vigil Sr.; her parents Gavino Varela and Felipita Rivera Varela; her daughter Dorothy Vigil and son Gene Vigil.
A Rosary was recited on Thursday, Feb. 9, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Pecos. A Funeral Mass will be held today, Friday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Pecos, with burial to follow at St. Anthony Parish Community Cemetery.
Compassion Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
