Funeral services for James T. Vickers, 82, of Goodwater will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug 13, 2005, at Oaks Chapel Baptist Church in Goodwater. Burial will follow at the adjoining cemetery. The Revs. Charles Stone and Jimmy Nelson will officate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug 12 at Heritage Chapel Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service Saturday, Aug 13, 2005 at the church.

Mr. Vickers died Wednesday, Aug 10, 2005 at his residence. He was born March 8, 1923 in Clay County to James Albert Vickers and Clara Danford Vickers. He was a member of Oaks Chapel Baptist Church and was a retired cabinet maker for Embassy Mobile Homes. He also attended Auburn Univerity and served his country during World War II with the U. S. Army as a demolition specialist.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary L. Vickers of Goodwater; two sons, Robert Wayne Vickers of Atlanta and James Vickers and wife Vivian of Goodwater; five grandchildren, Lori Mullally and husband Jeremy, James M. Vickers, Samantha Vickers, Crystal Vickers and Robert Wayne Vickers, Jr. and wife Delilah.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert Vickers and Clara Danford and 10 brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be James M. Vickers, Robert Wayne Vickers Jr., Johnny Vickers, Jeremy Mullally, Paul Smith and Charles Patterson.

Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
