Dominic Viano , 90, of 110 W. Division St. died at 10:27 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, 2002, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
Born Sept. 7, 1912, in Canton to Peter and Anna Caramellino Viano , he married Dorothy L. Curless on Oct. 9, 1940, in Canton. She died May 16, 2001.
Surviving are one son, Nick (and Pee Wee) of Canton; one daughter, Netia Viano of Norris; one sister, Christine Babcock of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A World War II Navy veteran, he was a 52-year member of Fairview American Legion and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1984.
He and his wife owned and operated Viano 's Tap in Norris for 34 years, retiring in 1990. He previously had owned the first drive-in restaurant in Canton and had co-owned D&V grocery store in Canton. He also worked in area coal mines for two years, at International Harvester in Canton for two years and at the Chicago World's Fair from 1933 to 1934.
He was a 50-year member of Moose Lodge 784 and was a 48-year member of Elks Lodge 626.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton, where visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Revs. Rusty Beals and Rick Atchley will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington.
Memorials may be made to Norris United Methodist Church or Copperas Creek Fire Department, Norris Unit.
