Entered into eternal rest on the morning of Aug. 12, 2005, Helen Marie Via Cooper, widow of John Dolivar Cooper.

A resident of Ochlocknee, Mrs. Cooper passed away at the residence of her daughter, Paula Kelley, in Ochlocknee.

The relatives and friends of Mrs. Cooper are invited to attend her funeral at Jedburg First Baptist Church, Jedburg, S.C., Monday, Aug. 15, 2005. Interment will follow in Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Born in Huntington, W.V., Dec. 13, 1916, she was the daughter of the late John Fry Via and Louella Chloe Paul Via.

Mrs. Cooper was a member of Jedburg Baptist Church, where she was a member of Faithful Sunday School Class, the Bible Searchers, and the Glory Gang. She was a member of the Jedburg Baptist Choir for 27 years. She attended Family Worship Center in Cairo, where she was a member of Training Ladies in Christ (TLC).

Mr. and Mrs. Cooper were married 47 years.

Surviving members of her family include children John C. Cooper of Charleston, S.C., Marjorie A. Richards and husband Robert of Carrsville, Va., Mary M. Thier and husband Alan of Charlevoix, Mich., and Paula D. and Bobby J. Kelley of Ochlocknee; grandchildren John D. Cooper Jr., Robert G. Richards II, Ronald G. Richards and Randall G. Richards, Sunday Thier Lawson, Alan Thier, Paul Kelley and Keith Kelley; fourteen great grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Via Spurlock and a special caregiver, Roxie Kelley. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Stephen Doliver Cooper and Kiana Lynn Cooper Jackson.

Friends may call at J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Greenridge Road Chapel Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

The family will be at 4457 N. Shirley Dr., North Charleston, S.C. Memorials may be made to Jedburg Baptist Church Choir.
