Bernadette C. Veit, 57, Holts Summit, died Tuesday at St. Marys Health Center. She was born June 26, 1939, in St. Anthony, a daughter of Leo and Mathilda Blumberg Dickneite. She was married June 1, 1957, in Osage Bend, to Joseph B. Veit, who survives of the home.

A homemaker, she was a graduate of Kingsville High School, Kingsville. She worked for Tweedie Shoe Factory from 1956-1964. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality, and was choir minister for several years. She was a member of the St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary.

Other survivors include: one son, Christopher Joseph Veit, Holts Summit; two brothers, Leo Dickneite, Phoenix Ariz., and Harold Dickneite, Tebbetts; two sisters, Anna Marie Stegeman, Wardsville, and Erma Wulff, Columbia; and one grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Andrews Church. The Rev. Fred Elskamp and the Rev. Greg Higley will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Houser-Mlilard Funeral Home, Holts Summit, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Andrews Church Building Fund or to the National Kidney Foundation.
