The funeral for William A. "Bill" Vech, 52, of Cedar Bluffs will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs.

He died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Sunrise Country Manor in Milford.

He was born Aug. 19, 1950, in Fremont. He grew up in rural Cedar Bluffs and was a graduate of Bishop Neumann High School in Wahoo. He attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont for one year. He farmed west of Cedar Bluffs until being diagnosed with cancer in 1989.

He married Bonnie Rezek on May 8, 1971, in Weston.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs and had served on the church board. He also had served on the Co-op Elevator Board in Cedar Bluffs.

Survivors include: a son, Brian Vech of Cedar Bluffs; a daughter, Becky (Mrs. Jeff) Spiegel of Lincoln; his mother, Lorraine Vech of Cedar Bluffs; two brothers, James (and wife, Beth) Vech of Cedar Bluffs and Steve (and wife, Jane) Vech of Ord; and two sisters, Annette (Mrs. Don) Hraban of Lincoln and Susan (Mrs. Dr. Steve) Baker of Westerly, R.I.

He was preceded in death by his father.

The Revs. Troy Schweiger and Thomas Dunavan will officiate Thursday's service. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Moser Memorial Chapel in Cedar Bluffs with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9:30-10 a.m. Thursday at the church. A rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery near Cedar Bluffs.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Society.

Moser Memorial Chapel in Cedar Bluffs is in charge of arrangements.
