She had worked as a sales associate and assistant manager 19 years for L.S. Ayres before retiring in 1979. She was a member of the First Assembly of God and the Order of the Eastern Star. She had been an avid bowler and enjoyed dancing, playing euchre and bingo.
She was born Feb. 22, 1920 in Tell City, and had lived in Lafayette since 1940. She married Clarence Veach on April 24, 1937, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 17, 1984.
Surviving are 11 grandchildren, three of whom are local area residents, Sandra Grady, Katrina Kesler and Leeta K. Veach-Gascho; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She considered the Veteran's Home residents her family, and greatly enjoyed the nine years she spent there.
Three sons preceded her in death, Wallace H., Larry R. and David Veach; a sister; and three brothers.
Services are 10:30 a.m. today at the Indiana Veteran's Home, 3851 N. River Rd., West Lafayette, with Chaplain David Hess officiating. Calling is at 9:30 a.m. today. Burial will be in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
