ETHEL M. GIBSON, 72 ROCKFORD - Ethel Mae Gibson, 72, of Rockford departed this earthly life Saturday, July 17, 2010. Born March 11, 1938, in Camden, Ark., the daughter of Muncie and Columbia (Davis) Vaughan. Married Louis Gibson. She was a foster parent and enjoyed traveling. Survivors include daughter, Reba (Charles) Stone; nine grandchildren; sisters, Jewel Merritt of Machesney Park, Gladys Purifoy of Mississippi and Verdia Patterson of California; brothers, Ivory Vaughan of Wisconsin and Charles Vaughan of California; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by parents; husband; one son; four brothers; and three sisters. Special thanks to staff at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Converge Home Health Care and Addeus Health Care. Service at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 24, in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with visitation from 9 a.m. to service time; Pastor Marie Mitchell will officiate.
