Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at Guajardo Funeral Chapels. Burial will be at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.
She died on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at Covenant Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 2, 1934, in San Antonio. She married Pete De La Cruz Mercado on March 15, 1958. She was preceded in death by her parents, Higino & Maria Vasquez; stepmother, Juanita Vasquez; sister, Feliz Garcia; brothers, Chavelo Vasquez, Jesse Vasquez and Charlie Vasquez.
Survivors include her husband, Pete De La Cruz Mercado; daughters, Irma Esquivel (Robert), Belinda Townsend (Scott); sons, Pete Mercado Jr. (Alicia), Robert Mercado (Melinda), Gilbert Mercado (Elia), Joe Mercado; sisters, Rafalia Torrez of Burley, Idaho, Minnie Barela of Ft. Worth, Dominga Reyna of Lubbock, Frances Reyes and Anita Vasquez of Midland; brothers, Willie Trevi?o of Houston, Joe Vasquez of Hobbs, N.M., Higino Vasquez Jr. of Morton, Johnny Vasquez of Levelland; 22 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and her beloved pet Lucky.
