Mrs. W A Harrington Dies at Age 86

Services for Mrs. Frances Vanhorn Harrington, resident of Houston for the past 48 years, who died Thursday morning, June 30 at 7:30 at the Houston Hospital after a three-months illness, were conducted from the Houston Funeral Home Friday, July 1, at 10:30 am. She was 86.

Dr. C S Thomas, pastor of the Houston Baptist Church, officiated. Interment was in the Houston Cemetery.

Pallbearers were: D L Montgomery, Van Evans Davis, J F Tabb, Jack Holleman, E S Medlin, Clifton Rhodes, and Theron Bryant.

"Miss Frances," as she was more affectionately known to her many friends here, was born at Batesville, Ark., Dec. 29, 1868. She was the daughter of the late George D Vanhorn, a native of Pennsylvania, and Eliza Frances Alexander Vanhorn, native of Arkansas.

Her husband, W A Harrington, who was widely known as "Uncle Billy," died in May of 1950 at the age of 97.

She leaves two sisters, Miss Grace Vanhorn and Mrs. Eugene L Cogbill, both of Dyesburg, Tenn., and a brother, Paul Vanhorn of Pomona, Calif.

Mrs. Harrington was a member of the Houston Baptist Church, and like her late husband was a regular attendant until illness forced her to remain at home.
