Marjorie Rose, of Baytown, was born in Arkansas the second of five children of Robert E. VanDeventer and Eugenia C. Adams.
In 1912 the family moved to Fullerton, Louisiana. She grew up in the mill town among the long leaf pines. She was the town telephone operator 1926-1927 when the mill closed and the town was dismantled. In 1928 she moved to Beaumont, Texas and worked at the Enterprise Cafe. She married Willard A. Bridges in 1932 and they raised three children in South Park. She belonged to the Eastern Star and was an early member of the South Park Baptist Church, where she helped many years in the nursery and children's classes.
She is survived by children William Bridges and wife Judy; Margaret Wilkinson; Nancy Currie and husband Carl; sister, Elsie Pickett; grandchildren: Jody Hughes and Rebecca Stillman; Suzanne Rosbach and husband Hal; Cheri McClary and husband Steve; William Bridges and wife Kristine; Rob and Tom Currie; three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband Willard Bridges, grandson Brent Hughes and brothers, Robert, Windsor and Ray VanDeventer.
