CANTON, IL – Mary Baker, 83, of Canton, IL passed away Friday, November 9, 2012 at 8:01 am at Renaissance Care Center, Canton.
She was born, January 7, 1929, in Beardstown, IL the daughter of Harold and Helen (Still) Van Horn. Mary married Aubrey Baker on March 17, 1946 in Astoria.
He survives along with three children, Audrey Brown of Las Vegas, NV, Steve (Nancy) Baker of Waterloo, and Ted (Dorri) Baker of Norris; four grandchildren, Jeremy and Nathan Baker, Michael Brown, and Staci Baker; one great-grandchild, Aubrey Elizabeth Baker; and two sisters, Margaret Young of Wisconsin and Lil Steele of Jacksonville.
Preceding Mary in death were her parents, one sister, Betty, and one grandson, Christopher Brown.
She had first worked as a bookkeeper at Canton State Bank and then at CIPS, retiring in 1992.
Mary was a member of the First Christian Church in Canton and was active in its church groups. She loved to swim and fish, and was a great cook.
A graveside service will be at Summum Cemetery, Summum, IL.
Murphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home, Canton is in charge of arrangements.
