Four Year Old Dies Following Injury, Surgery
Funeral services for Phillip Kirk Van Every, 4, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Van Every of Route 2, Rupert were held Monday in the LDS Tabernacle with Bishop Carl B. Garner of the Rupert Fifth Ward officiating.
The child passed away at 9 a.m. Friday at Minidoka Memorial hospital after undergoing surgery Thursday evening by a specialist for injuries received in a fall at his home. He had fallen backwards down a stairway after losing his balance on a railing.
He received a brain concussion and his injuries were complicated by a congenital heart condition.
The child was born June 26, 1960 at Malta, and attended the LDS church.
In addidion to his parents, survivors include one brother, David, two sisters, Crystal and Lisa, maternal grandmother, Mrs. Eleanor Rasmussen, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Burt Van Every, all of Rupert.
Speakers were J. Ray Johnson, Bishop Carl J. Williams and Bishop Carl B. Garner. Ralph Griffin gave the benediction.
Pallbearers were Terry Rogers, Michael Rasmussen, Steven Rogers and Edward L. Van Every. Flower girls were Mary Van Every, Bonnie Rasmussen, Cheryl Rasmussen and Jana Rogers.
Dedication of the grave at Rupert cemetery was by Judson Van Every.
