Died a prisoner in concentration camp Hussum-Schwesing, Germany. He was one of the men taken from Putten, Gelderland, Netherlands in October of 1944.
Son of Pieter van Essen and Maria Horseling.
Grandson of Kommer van Essen and Christina Jacoba Tas, Dirk Cebus Horseling and Gezina Johanna van Dam.
He was a Postman with the national postal service, the PTT.
Husband of Jannetje Beernink, they were the parents of four children, one of whom was Pieter van Essen who died November 21, 1944, a prisoner in concentration camp Ladelund, Germany at the age of 17.

Cause of Death: Dysentery.
