Clara Beckering, 90, Edgerton, died Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at Edgebrook Care Center.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 23 at Colonial Funeral Chapel in Edgerton.
Interment was in Hillside Cemetery, Edgerton.
Clara Beckering was born to Ryer and Clara (Post) Van Essen on Oct. 2, 1915 in Holland, where ‘she was raised and received her education. Following her education, she was employed for Dr. Yseth in Pipestone until she was married.
She married William Beckering on March 12, 1935 in Holland. Following their marriage they resided in Edgerton. After she raised her daughter, she did wood finishing for several years She then became employed at Gord's Hardware in Edgerton where she worked for many years and still enjoyed working part-time.
William preceded her in death on Feb. 12, 1995. After his death she remained in her home.
On Friday, Sept. 15 she entered the Edgebrook Care Center.
She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Edgerton and also a member of the Edgerton Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her daughter, LaVonne (Robert) Roelofs, Edgerton; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Netta Kroeze, Fairmont, Calif.; Sophi Scholten, Leota; Hattie Williams, Vancouver, Wash. and Bunny Huisken, Foley, Ala.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Ray VanEssen and two sisters, Gertrude VanDenBerg and Nell Beckering.
