Bryce L. Vandruff, 76, longtime Broadwater businessman, died Wednesday of last week at an Alliance hospital. He was born in Gosper County, Nebr., Jan. 14, 1894, a son of the late Lemuel A. and Lucretia Chambers Vandruff.

After graduating from the Arapahoe High school he attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas City, Mo.

He was married to Esther Schwass at Minden on Oct 12, 1918 and they lived at Bushnell, Nebr., for several years. They moved to Broadwater in 1928 where he purchased the Broadwater Grain Elevator, which he operated for 30 years. He was actively interested in livestock operations in eastern Morrill County and also held a number of local and county governmental offices.

The Vandruffs observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1968.

He belonged to the Broadwater Presbyterian Church, Kimball Lodge No. 294 A.F. & A.M., the Lincoln Consistory and the Tehama Shrine Temple of Hastings.

Among those surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Fay (Blythe) Thacker of Mitchell, Mrs. John C. (Evelyn) Hamilton of Denver and Mrs. Sylvester (Audrey) Kloch of Broadwater; one brother, Charles A. Vandruff of Holbrook; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His wife passed away Sept. 26, 1970 and three brothers and one son also preceded him in death.
