Leland B. Van Deventer died Wednesday, May 22, 2013. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at Christ Church, 5301 Altamesa Blvd., Fort Worth. Interment will follow in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Family visitation: 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home, 4216 S. Bowen Road, Arlington. He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on Nov. 10, 1920. He graduated from a Los Angeles high school and junior college. Leland was a veteran of World War II. He raised his family in the city of Torrance, Calif. He was a tool and die maker for the North American Aviation. He was proud of the fact he made a major support beam for the space shuttle. Survivors: Leland is survived by his daughter, Ruth Porter and son-in-law, Walt Porter; stepdaughters, Sheral Sly and Linda Kisner, with their husbands, Dan and Toni; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
