Florence Betselie, 72, of Dzil Na'oodilii went home to be with her Lord and Savior at her residence surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 18, 2013. She was born January 4, 1941 in Blanco Canyon.
Florence was a long time faithful servant of the Lord. After receiving Jesus Christ as her personal Savior as a teenager, she never looked back. She spent countless hours reading and meditating on God's Word and with a kind, loving and humble heart she served God in many ways. She was a missionary; a song leader; a prayer warrior; an interpreter for the missionaries; a translator for the Navajo Songbook and Navajo Bible; a teacher for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Bible Study Classes and Navajo Language Class; a pastor's wife and mother.
She is survived by her three children, Lynnae, LouRae and Aaron; her father, Sam Valdez; her brothers, Santo Valdez, Leroy Valdez, Keroy Valdez, Ramses Valdez, Murphy Valdez and Floyd Valdez; her sisters, Anna Valdez, Esther Napie, Phyllis Dixon, Elaine Valdez-Wakeland and Elvira Harvey and her nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Betselie; her mother, Esther P. Valdez; her brothers, Samuel Valdez, Lawrence Valdez, Murray Valdez and Larry Valdez.
Visitation and viewing will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 24 at Dzil Na'oodilii Bible Church, 12739 U.S. Highway 550 in Bloomfield.
Funeral service will be 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 25 at the First Baptist Church of Bloomfield, 200 W. Sycamore Ave.
Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.
Reception will be at McGee Park Convention Center, 41 Road 5568 in Farmington.
Florence is in the care of her brother, Floyd Valdez and her sister, Elaine Valdez-Wakeland of Desert View Funeral Home of Shiprock, N. U.S. Highway 491, 505-368-4607. .Published in Farmington Daily Times from May 21 to May 31, 2013
