Fidel Valdez, 86, of Chamita, NM passed away on September 30, 2009. Mr. Valdez was a proud Veteran of World War II. He is preceded in death by his wife Clara G. Valdez, mother Magdalena Suazo, brother Alizondro Suazo, brothers and sisters-in-law Joe and Sarah Roybal, Ruth Sanchez, Pete and Frances Garcia, Manuel and Marie Garcia, Jake and Isabelle Trujillo, Johnny and Eliza Martinez, Adolfo and Ruth Sanchez, Pita and Benito Cordova, Alfredo Salazar, Jr., Jack Wilson and Procopio and Angelina. Mr. Valdez is survived by his sister Margaret Taylor and many nieces and nephews of Utah, sister-in-law Elivira Salazar of Chamita, Adelina Suazo of California, Nancy Wilson of El Guache, step-son Howard Lopez of Riverside, grandson Eric Lopez of Albuquerque, granddaughter Dolores and Billy Gallegos of Riverside, great-grandchildren Kandice and Kassie Gallegos of Riverside. Many other nephews, nieces and relatives. Recitation of the Rosary was held on Sunday, October 4, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh. The Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. also at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. With interment to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Assisting the family as pallbearers were Howard Lopez, Eric Lopez, Joaquin Salazar, Donald Salazar, Billy Gallegos, Michael Martinez, Floyd Garcia and Virgil Martinez.
