Carlos "Charles" Valdéz, an Albuquerque resident since 1976, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 1999.
Charles was born in Raton, New Mexico on April 30, 1929.
Charles is survived by his wife, Brigitte Valdéz of Germany, sons, Frankie Valdéz and Marcus Valdéz, both of Germany, daughter, Gina Marie Valdéz of Vallejo, CA, two granddaughters, brothers, Arthur Valdéz and his wife, Nancy of Raton, NM and Orlando Valdéz and his wife, Elizabeth of Albuquerque, sisters, Rosemarie Beilke and her husband, Fred of Corrales, NM, Esther Aguilar and her husband, Johnnie of Colorado City, CO and Patricia Spears and her husband, David of Washington, D.C. and several nieces and nephews.
Charles served in the US Army Air Corps, the United States Air Force and retired from the United States Army in 1975 after over 20 years of service. Charles was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam and received many decorations and citations during his military service. Charles served in many capacities, an air traffic controller, air traffic instructor and an air traffic chief.
Charles was a volunteer tax preparer for AARP in several senior centers. He was an active member of the Highland Senior Center. Charles enjoyed playing pool, winning several pool tournaments.
Carlos will be missed by his family and many friends.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 1999 at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 1999 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 833 Arizona SE, with Father Joe D. Vigil, celebrant. Interment will follow at Santa Fé National Cemetery in Santa Fé, NM.
