Agnes G. Valdez, a lifelong resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 1, 2008.
She was born Dec. 12, 1945 to the late Petra Anaya Valdez and Ruben Valdez.
Agnes was passionate about everything she did. This is especially true in the way she cared for her family. Agnes retired from the Las Vegas Medical Center and was also a full time mother. She devoted her life to being a caring, giving, and supported force to her son, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was blessed to have had a life that she lived to the fullest.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Ruben and Petra Valdez; sister Mary Valdez in 1960; brothers: Ray Thomas and Ray Alfred Valdez; grandnephew: Dion Hoogerhuis Dec. 25, 2007.
She is survived by her son: Richard "Ricky" Valdez and wife Maxine; beloved grandchildren: Armando, YLexus, and Melina Valdez all of Germany; special niece she considered a daughter: Leigh Ann Marquez and husband Patrick Sr. of Las Vegas, N.M. and their children: Patrick Jr., Vanessa Morton and husband Sean, Ruben, and Justin her consentido; sisters: Carmen Hoogerhuis and Lori Rascon both of Las Vegas, N.M.; brothers: Arthur Valdez of Albuquerque; Robert Valdez and wife Cathy, Andrew Valdez and Patrick Valdez all of Las Vegas, N.M.; numerous: nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
Cremation has taken place. Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Tuesday evening at 7 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday morning at 9 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church with Father C. John Brasher as celebrant.
Interment will follow at the San Jose Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers: Steven Gonzales, Diego Rascon, Brad Herrera, Jalen Jaramillo, and Nathan Rascon. Serving as honorary bearers will be her nieces: Elaine Hoogerhuis, Janelle Moreno, Alexandra Valdez, Bobbie Lynn Martinez, and Karen Rascon her niece and caregiver.
