Taken ill at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon while he was helping in
the fields of his brother-in-law's farm, Herman Vetter, 67, died
fifteen minutes later of a heart attack. He was assisting with the
work on the William Commings, Jr., farm in the town of Liberty.
The Vetter home is at 922 South 11th street.
The body will lie in state at the Pfeffer funeral home from 7
o'clock on this evening, and at 10 o'clock Thursday morning it
will be moved to the St. John's Evangelical church, of which Mr.
Vetter was janitor. Funeral services will be held Thursday at
2 p.m. from the church, the Rev. Paul Blaufuss officiating. Burial
will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Vetter was born on April 23, 1870, in the town of Liberty. He
married Lizzie Commings on April 29, 1896, and the couple moved to
Manitowoc from their farm 28 years ago. They lived in Two Rivers
for three years. Mr. Vetter was a carpenter by trade, and he has
been retired from that work during the last five years.
Survivors are the widow, one daughter, Mrs. William Knuth of Denmark,
three sons, Clarence, Elmer and Wilbert, all of Manitowoc, one brother,
Fred of Valders, and three grandchildren.
