Gladys met her husband-to-be, Dan at a USO dance in St. Louis during WWII where he was taking radio communications training for the Army.

After the war, the happy couple moved to Chapman, NE and helped operate the family drug store there and started their family.

They moved to the Colorado Springs area in 1950 and five years later to Security CO. Four children (2 boys 2 girls) were born to this union and after the fourth child, Gladys and Dan moved to a farm near Fountain, CO.

Gladys was very active in church activities with the First United Methodist Church of Fountain and with the United Methodist Women. She was an excellent seamstress, cook and all around mom. She enjoyed square dancing, dinners, and playing pinochle with friends. In her later years she enjoyed tennis, and gambling at Cripple Creek, CO.
