Louise Helen Urban Adcock, age 86, passed away on Jan. 10, 2009, at 3 p.m., in Shreveport, La., after prolonged infirmity. She was born May 4, 1922, in Victoria, and would be the last surviving child of the 12 children born to the late E. Frederick and Louise S. Urban.
The Urban legacy spanned 135 years of Victoria's history. Louise was baptized, confirmed, and married at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her father was privileged to be the builder of Trinity Church, and that structure now serves as the chapel. She graduated from Patti Welder High School and attended Victoria Junior College. She worked for Poole and Hooper until marrying Jesse David Adcock Jr., also of Victoria, on May 22, 1948. She and Jess were blessed with two daughters. She served on the Ladies' Aid Society and was a sponsor of the Luther League at her church. Jess was promoted within Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and transferred to San Antonio in 1974 where the couple were active members of Hope Lutheran Church and made many wonderful friends. While in San Antonio, she led the non-denominational Bible Study Fellowship for one year. Louise moved to Shreveport, La. in 2000, after the death of her husband in 1996, to be near her daughter Deborah. Louise was a loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Jess, her beloved husband of 48 years; her sisters, Cecile Roth, Lillian Carter, Renette Granberry, Margaret Johnson, Katherine Jarrell, Irene Lockman, and Jewell Chisum; and brothers, William, Leonard Fred "L.F.", and Herman Urban.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Phyllis Ann and Charles Edmond Chandler of Baytown, and Drs. Deborah Kay Adcock and Joseph Houston Bosley III of Shreveport, La.; one grandson, David Edmond Chandler; nine nieces; and five nephews.
