Chester Lee Uptergrove, Jr. was born Sept. 12, 1934 to Chester Lee and Serena Naomi (Johnson) Uptergrove in Carpenter OK. He graduated from high school at Carter OK.

He married Alice Lorene Funderburg on March 19, 1954 in Sayre. He took two years of college courses in Law Enforcement, then enlisted in the US Air Force on July 7, 1954 in Oklahoma City. He was discharged Aug. 2, 1956 at Sheppard AF Base TX where he reenlisted on Aug 3, 1956. He was discharged March 3, 1958.

He worked as a truck driver and farmed. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, Serena, of Granite; his wife of the home; three sons, William, Don and John, all of Granite; one daughter, Patty Vaughn of Versailles KY; four brothers, Wayne of CA, Donald of AR, Gary of Mangum and Dale of Hobart; two sisters, June Sanders of TX and Wanda Sunderland of Elk City; 13 grandchildren and six great-grand children.
