Clyde's funeral services were at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Meacham, pastor, officiating and the Rev. J. Dean McNamara, hospice chaplain, assisting. Burial was in Hale Center Cemetery under the direction of Freeman-Abell Funeral Home.
On 8 April 1930 Clyde married Jewell Alice Walls in Clovis, Curry County, New Mexico. Clyde and Jewell had the following children: Clyde Hershelle, Betty Joe, Roy Lee, and Ronald Earl.
Clyde moved from Petersburg to Hale Center in 1927.
Clyde was a business man. In May 1937, he and R. J. Walls bought the interest of C .E. Donnell in a local cafe. Later in life, Clyde owned and operated Clyde's Garage until he retired in 1968.
Clyde was a Lion's Club member, a Boy Scout leader, and a member of First Baptist Church.
He died at age 90 Hi-Plains Nursing Home in Hale Center.
Jewell preceded Clyde in death. She died 6 April 1993. In addition, son, Clyde, died as an infant in 1931.
Clyde's obit lists the following survivors: two sons, Roy and Ron both of Hale Center; a daughter, Betty Owens of Hale Center; two sisters, Earlene (Winnie) Johnson of Abernathy and Irene Loyd of Silverton; 24 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.
